Apple has been synonymous with innovation and giving the consumers a cut above the rest. Every time Apple launches a new product or a newer version of the product, a new yet very useful feature is brought to the consumers. SIRI is the latest invention from the Apple stable. With the launch of Apple iPhone 4S, apple introduced the smartest virtual assistant, SIRI that can efficiently locate whatever you want ranging from the new Italian restaurant in the neighborhood to the salon and spa near your home.
The whole world is going gaga about Google’s search engine which is ruling the roost leaving the competitors’ like Yahoo and Bing far behind. When it comes to revenues from thve search engine, Google has secured its position with an enviable share of 65.3%. Apple has shaken the Google’s position by making an entry in search engine. SIRI, an entry point into search engine is yet another smarter move from APPLE which allows users to make a voice activated search along with other basic functions. SIRI uses the natural language processing or semantic to process the commands and is therefore compared to an efficient secretary who can perform tasks like scheduling the meeting to sending the text message to a person efficiently. So, if you don’t want to waste time in typing or typo errors are giving you the hard times, the voice activated virtual assistant is a safest way to carry out all the tasks. Now, you can rely on this assistant who is touted as a Google Killer by techies.
SIRI.The closest competitor to SIRI would be Tellme from Microsoft used on Windows Phone 7 which performs similar functions and uses the hierarchical pattern for semantic processing as against the flat grammar system of SIRI. But, as of now, SIRI’s performance is proved to be better than the Tellme. However, Tellme has an edge over SIRI because it can launch a new app in the smartphone. Another competitor of SIRI is IRIS which was released by Android. IRIS is SIRI read backwards. There are other apps that have been launched in close competition to SIRI and these include Edwin, Speaktoit and Vlingo. But any imitation to the original is indeed a complement.
